Volunteer Accident Insurance Program
Through Chartis, it is now possible to protect volunteers who provide valuable service to the organizations they serve.
Volunteer Insurance Program Request
The cost of this coverage for the year is $2.40 per volunteer per year. This coverage provides Excess Accident Medical Coverage up to $25,000, as well as coverage for Accidental Death and Dismemberment. Details on the coverage can be obtained from Risk Services.
In the event of an accident in a volunteer-related activity, this coverage could be extremely valuable. Remember that worker’s compensation does not apply to our volunteers here at UNM.
Requests for Volunteer Insurance Coverage cannot be guaranteed unless submitted to UNM Risk Services at least two business days prior to the planned volunteer activity.

How to File a Claim
If you have an accident that results in personal injury to yourself you can obtain a claim form from Risk Services. Follow the instructions carefully. When the form has been completed return it to Risk Services with your itemized bills. The Manager of Risk Services will then sign the form and submit it to Association Insurance Management.
