Chemical Inventory Regulatory Requirements
Following are a number of Regulations and Policies that require a Chemical Inventory:

- Principal Investigator or Possessor of Chemicals is Responsible for Chemical Inventory and MSDSs
- Safety and Risk Services (Radiation Safety Division) is Responsible for Radioactive Material Inventory
- Safety and Risk Services is Responsible for Community Right-To-Know
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) (29 CFR 1910.1200)
- Hazard Communication Standard
- Facility must have all MSDSs Readily Available for all Products on the Hazardous Chemical List
- Chemical Inventory
National Fire Protection Association, 2008 Edition (NFPA Chapter 9, Section 9.1 and beyond)
- Inventories of Storage Containers for Flammable and Combustible Liquids
Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA), Chapter 103 US Code-Title 42, Environmental Protection Agency
- Facility must Inventory all Hazardous Substances which may Endanger the Environment or Public Health
Emergency Planning & Community Right to Know Act (Title III of SARA, Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act, Chapter 103 US Code-Title 42 or EPCRA, 40 CFR 355), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- Facility must provide copy of Inventory and MSDS/s of all Hazardous Substances to Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) and State Emergency Planning Committee (SEPC)
National Emissions Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (HAPS) (Clean Air Act and Amendments thereto), (40 CFR Part 63) (EPA)
- Facility must Inventory for Listed HAPS and Implement Pollution Controls
U. S. Department of Homeland Security, Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards, Final Rule (6 CFR Part 27, Specifically Appendix A related)
Facility must Inventory and Monitor Use of Materials on Homeland Security List.
